JAMMU, Sept 13: To overcome the problems of over flowing of nullahs in Subash Nagar area of Jammu West Assembly Segment, State Vice President BJP and MLA Sat Sharma (CA) kick started the construction of nullahs in the area.
These nullahs earlier led problems of the people due to overflowing as were not covered. MLA was accompanied by UEED (Urban Environmental Engineering Department) officials, local residents, political and social activists of the area. The works were started at two spots in Subash Nagar area including Jalebi Morh and Extension Number 2, Subash Nagar.
The works will be executed under the supervision of UEED at an estimated cost of around Rupees 6 lakh. The base will be constructed in the nullahs and they will also be covered in order to channelize the flow of water passing through the stinking nullahs which were the cause of pollution.
In a press statement issued, Sat Sharma (CA) said that the construction works have been taken up in these areas by the concerned department in order to prepare a safe infra so that in the next rainy season or otherwise, residents should not face any type of problem.
He said that the construction of base in the nullahs and covering the same will help in channelizing the flow of water which will not affect the residents of the locality and the water from Nullahs will not enter the compounds of the people.
He stated that he also had meetings with officials of UEED concerning the stinking nullahs in the area and soon a viable solution will also be found to these problems as well. He also said the works of other deep drains in the Constituency will also be taken up soon and it is one of the priorities of the concerned department to overcome that problem. He stated that DPR’s have been sanctioned for deep drains including Krishna Nagar and other areas where there is a dire requirement of constructing nullahs and the same will be dealt in a stipulated period of time.
