JAMMU, Nov 11: Former Minister and Ex-MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma started construction works for a new library and store at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, Extension New Karan Nagar, Ward 9 and dedicated it to the students, locals and senior citizens across Jammu West Assembly segment and other areas.
Sharma was accompanied by Corporator Ward 9, Suneet Raina, Mandal president, BJP Raveesh Mengi, local residents including youth and political activists of the area.
The works are being executed under the supervision of JMC and funds to the tune of Rs 8.37 lakh were also sanctioned from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) of former MLA which was given during his tenure and its work was delayed due to Code of Conduct of elections and other reasons, but the work was taken up as soon as the process got cleared.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said that there was a dire need of construction of a library for youngsters as there was no similar place in the Ward and other adjoining wards where students could come and study. He said that on the demand of locals and many youngsters, the funds were sanctioned for the same so that a proper place could be built where many students who study for various courses or competitive exams can come and prepare for their respective stre-ams and for senior citizens of the Ward as well who could come and read literature, newspapers, etc in their leisure time.
He also stated that such places are the need of society as these are the places which prepare our future generations to work for the betterment of society. He also appealed masses to promote the vision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi of building a “Clean and Green India” and asked everyone to contribute some of their time everyday to maintain the cleanliness of the park.
