JAMMU, May 29: MP Madan Lal’s son, Satish Sharma emerged as winner from Jammu-Poonch parliamentary constituency as president of the PYC Committee, while Pankaj Basotra from Udhampur -Doda Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu region.
According to LRO Kiran Waghela, Satish bagged the highest 1798 votes and remained at top place while Varun Singhla, who managed 251 votes remained at second place. Eight candidates were in the fray in Jammu-Poonch. Kamaljeet remained at the third place.
From Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, Pankaj Basotra hailing from Billawar was declared elected as winner for the post of president. Vinay Sharma remained at second slot while A. Saroori from Kishtwar at third place. The results of the Assembly segments and three Lok Sabha constituencies in Kashmir were also declared late this evening. The results for PYC president post will be declared on May 31.
Ten candidates, including six from Jammu region are in the fray for the post of Pradesh Youth Congress president. The polling on the second day on the remaining Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies remained peaceful today.
In Jammu region, seven candidates contesting for the post of PYC president post are-R S Pathania, Mohd Shahnawaz Choudhary, Pranav Shagotra, Varinder Singh Chib, Manjit Singh Jat, Rajveer Singh Manhas and Dr Abdul Rashid Choudhary. However, Dr Rashid Choudhary, former State NSUI president has withdrawn from the contest in favour of Pranav Shagotra. Triangular contest is expected between Shagotra, Shah Nawaz and Pathania for the post of PYC president.
From Kashmir, four candidates in fray included Abid Imtiaz Kashmiri, Ms Ifroza Akhtar, Yasir Amin Pandit and Sikander Bakht Jan.
The elections for nearly 70 assembly and six Lok Sabha constituencies was over today.
State Election Observer for State Youth Congress, Sachin Nayak said that over all election was held peacefully. He said no untoward incident was reported from anywhere and by and large it was peaceful. Reacting on allegation of unfair means from Marh, Bhaderwah and Poonch segments, Nayak said he had no such complaints. He said for the remaining half of the LS, Assembly segments, the polling will be held tomorrow. The counting will be held on May 31.
