The devotes of Shri Satya Sai Baba all over the world, are celebrating his 98th Birth Anniversary. The concept of the incarnation is a great philosophy in the Hindu religion. Our sanatana scriptures proclaim in unison that the Lord comes down in a human form onto earth in order to restore dharma. Here dharma means moral and spiritual values. The devotees of Shri Satya Sai Baba look upon Him as the incarnation of truth, beauty, love and goodness.
During the puranic age Lord Shiva gave three boons to Sage Bhardwaja. As a result of this Lord Shiva incarnated as Shirdi Baba. He began the restoration of dharma and left his mortal coil on 15th of October 1918 at 2:30 PM. To complete the task He had to come back and he informed this to a few devotees. Shirdi Baba said to His intimate devotee Hari Seetaram Dexit, ” Dexit, eight years after leaving My body, I will come again.” As foretold eight years after attaining Samadhi in 1918, Shirdi Sai Baba incarnated in Puttaparthi , a village in the Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh to to a pious couple named Venkama Raju and Eshwaramba, who belonged to the Ratanakaram family of the solar dynasty. This happened as the result of the second boon of Lord shiva given to Sage Bhardwaja. He incarnated on 23th of November, 1926. He incarnated in the early hours of Kartika Somavar, which is a favourite day of Lord Shiva. He had a Srivatsa mole on His Chest and a mole on his Cheek, which are considered as a characteristics feature of an incarnation.
His parents named Him “Satyanarayana”. Lord Shiva who incarnated as Satyanarayana performed many leelas right from His Childhood. No one, including His parents could comprehend His nature. They took Him to exorcists thinking that evil spirit possessed Him.
Finally , Baba decided not to hide His avtarhood any longer and on the 28th of May, 1940, He called everyone towards Him and gave them sugar candy and flowers. All these were materialized by a mere wave of His hand. Seeing all this His father Venkama Raja became furious. He approached Baba with a thick stick with the intention of beating Him. He questioned in a fury, ” Who are you ? Are you a God, a devil or a mad man”.
Baba got up from His seat unperturbed and said in a serious tone, ” I am Sai Baba . I belong to the Apasthamba sutra of Bhardwaja Gotra. Venkavadhoota of your lineage prayed that I should be born in your family. Heeding those prayers, I have come to ward off all your difficulties and elevate you. From then on. He declared that he was Sai Baba. To this name, The word ‘Satya’ from His former name ‘Satyanarayana’ was attached as a prefix and He became famous as ‘ Satya Sai Baba’.
He began to declare His divinity through various leelas and mahimas. He was restoring dharma by making the whole world follow ancient dharma. The sages in their Naadi texts have written a great deal about this fully empowered incarnation. The majesty of this incarnation is mentioned in details in the Shuka Naadi, Bhrugu Naadi, Brahma Naadi and other such Naadi texts. Naadi texts are predictions of sages, which contain the details of the past, present and future of everyone.
Not only this even Yogi Aurobindo too, eulogized this incarnation. This maharshi, with his infinite yogic power entered into absolute solitude and performed severe sadhana from 1923to 1926 praying to the Lord to incarnate for the upliftment of the world . The will of the great Souls will never be wasted.
Many saints, yogis and great souls have eulogized the glory of the avatar. As result of the third boon given to sage Bhardwaja by Lord Shiva, Baba will manifest again at Guna Parthi, in the Mandhya District in Karnataka. He has given the photograph of this incarnation to a devotee called Hislop. The Soul of Shirdi Baba was the soul of Satya Sai Baba and the Soul of Prem Sai at Guna Parthi will be the soul of Shri Satya Sai Baba.
