Save Dogri Campaign launched

JAMMU, Mar 20: As the “Save Dogri” Signature Campaign launched by “Swabhiman”, an NGO, has got a massive response from the general public, Senior Congress leader and former general secretary, All India Youth Congress (AIYC), Vikram Malhotra launched a similar campaign in Ward No 3 covering Peer Mitha and Mastgarh areas of Jammu East constituency.
Hundreds of people from the Ward and adjoining localities accompanied.
The “Save Dogri” Signature Campaign is the first of its kind initiative being undertaken by the “Swabhiman”.
“As the Signature Campaign “Save Dogri” is getting massive response from the local populace, it exhibits their concern for their mother tongue and also their wholehearted support to this unique initiative,” he said while talking about success of initiative.
The main objective of “Save Dogri” Signature Campaign launched by the Swabhiman, is to gather support of people of Jammu for inclusion of Dogri as a subject in school curriculum, establishment of Dogri Academy in Jammu, appointment of Dogri teachers and lecturers in schools and colleges, broadcasting of Dogri programmes on Radio and Doordarshan (DD), according status of official language to Dogri etc.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Jyoti, Jang Bahadur Sharma, Nek Ram Sharma, Dewakar, Balbir Singh, Shushant, Rani Devi, Mamta, Usha, Tina, Rinku, Shamsher Singh, Kanta Devi and others.
