POONCH, Dec 10: The police has registered a case against branch manager and a cashier of State Bank of India (SBI) Poonch and others for default in local ATM machines and delivery of less cash to the bank customers.
Interestingly, for the first time this type of case has come to light. The bank customers have been deputed of nearly Rs 11 to 12 lakh of amount in last just one and half month in Poonch area. Majority of them are said to be Defence personnel, serving and retired employees.
Instead of delivering desired amount, the ATM machines provided less amount in many cases. The duped customers approached the concerned SBI branch Poonch city. The concerned staff told that after scrutiny of accounts, it was found that entire amount had been delivered. Upon this, the duped customers moved to the  court of CJM  Poonch, who directed the SHO Poonch to register a case  and initiate investigation.
Accordingly, the police registered a case FIR No. 159/2014 under Section 420 RPC against Branch Manager SBI Poonch Sanjay Bhat and cashier S K Raina and started investigation.
A deputed customer Sunil Kumar Sharma from Ward No. 14, Poonch told the Excelsior that he went to SBI ATM to withdraw 16,500 cash but he was delivered just Rs 5500 cash. ” I had J&K Bank ATM card and contacted my branch to check account, but it was later found that account showed Rs 16,500 drawn. I was worried and then contacted SBI Manager and staff but they claimed that desired amount has been withdrawn as per record available,” Sunil added.
This also happened with one Bansi Lal Raina, an employee in DC office Poonch who received Rs 4500 less, Mohd Bashir retired TSO, who was duped of Rs 11,500 cash from ATM and so on. As the complaints started pouring in the bank staff also got perturbed but expressed helplessness. With the intervention of court, the Cyber Crime Cell of police has started  investigation. But no success has been made so far.
SHO Poonch, Rakesh Akram when contacted said that on the basis of complaints through court an FIR has been registered in this connection. He said due to election police team could not focus much on the case but now the investigations have been started.  It was also learnt SBI had given contract of maintenance and cash delivery to ATMs to one Chandigarh based company. Their contract came to an end recently. The company staff operating here will also be brought for questioning. Branch Manager and cashier have already been booked for cheating with the intervention of court, he added.
