*3 JK Bank ATMs witness huge rush

POONCH, Sept 4: Huge rush of public is witnessed at all the three J&K Bank ATMs in Mendhar town while all the 11 State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank (PNB) and even HDFC Bank ATMs are not operational in entire Mendhar Sub Division of district Poonch for the last one month.
The Bank customers and all the ATM users including Military and Para Military Force men deployed in the area, are badly suffering due to lack of services on the part of SBI, PNB and HDFC bank authorities in Poonch district for the last about one month. These banks have hired private agencies for the supply and deposit of cash in the 11 ATMs in Balakote, Bhimber Gali, Dhar Galoon, Mendhar, Mankote and Krishna Ghati area of Mendhar Sub Division. But these agencies are not providing services and the Banks have deprived its customers of the much needed service.
Even the District Administration Poonch and Sub Divisional Administration, Mendhar failed to act and take cognizance of the matter during last over 30 days. There are three ATMs of JK Bank in Mendhar town and total 8 ATMs of this bank in entire Mendhar Sub Division. Huge public rush is always witnessed at these ATMs and they go empty after few hours of public use.
A senior manager of SBI at Mendhar claimed that private agency engaged for filling ATM machines with cash had demanded additional security in view of law and order problem during past four weeks and since the Administration did not respond, the agency suspended its operation of filling ATMs with currency. When asked that hired agency has its own private security, the senior Manager said that was not sufficient in view of prevailing situation.
Meanwhile, amidst these allegations and counter allegations, the general public was left to suffer by the Government as well as the Banking authorities for no fault of their. The Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Rahul Yadav and the SDM Mendhar can not be absolved of their responsibilities over this lapse as well, a Mendhar Beopar Mandal member said.
