SBM employees stage protest

SRINAGAR, Apr 27: Scores of Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) employees today staged a protest here seeking release of pending salaries and regularization of their services.
The protesting employees under the banner of SBM Employees’ Forum assembled here at press enclave and raised slogans in favour of their demands. The protesters said their main demand is the release of their salaries as from last four years they have not been paid anything by the Government.
“It has been four years since we were appointed on contractual basis. But since then we have not been paid our salaries even as the amount is only Rs 6000 at District level and Rs 2000 at Block level per employee,” said the protesters.
The protesters also demanded regularization of their services and also separate Project Directorate for the flagship programme as per the set guidelines of the scheme for its smooth and successful implementation.
The protesting employees while demanding fulfillment of their demands warned of hunger strike from the month of May.
