JAMMU, Feb 19: All J&K SBM Employees Association, affiliated with the Employees Joint Action Committee has urged upon the State Administration to release the wages of Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) teachers and also regularize their services.
Talking to media-persons president of EJAC Abdul Qayoom Wani and provincial president SBM Employees Forum Ishfaq Ahmed said that nearly 6000 youth were engaged under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme under Adult Skilled Development Programme in the State in 2009. These youth are working in their respective areas as District, Block and Panchayat Coordinators (Preraks) under State Literacy Mission. Their orders were issued by the concerned Deputy Commissioners.
Most of them are well qualified and are working with zeal and dedication. They are performing the job of teaching, election duty and exam duty. But unfortunately, their services have not been regularized. Even many of them have not been paid their wages by the concerned authorities for the last three years. The Govt of India has extended this scheme up to 2017. Many of them are going to be over aged. The Government must issue orders for their regularization.
Mr Wani issued appeal to the Governor N N Vohra and Chief Secretary to intervene personally and decide the fate of these workers.’
