JAMMU, Aug 21: Referring to separate advertisements for scholarships by Social Welfare Department of J&K Government, J&K BJP Spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan; party senior leaders-S. Varinderjeet Singh and Rashpaul Verma have asked the students belonging to reserved categories to avail the opportunity and apply for the financial assistance in form of scholarships.
They informed that the Social Welfare Department has announced scholarships to various reserved categories including SCs, OBCs and minorities wherein the format of the application and complete process has been clearly mentioned.
Balbir said, for SCs, the scholarships include UT’s scheme of Pre-Matric Scholarship from 1st to 8th classes and Centrally sponsored scheme of Pre-Matric Scholarship from 1st to 10th classes.
S. Varinderjeet Singh asked class 1st to 10th students of Sikh community to avail the benefit of the scholarship wherein the mode of application is online and there are no chances of missing of the application forms and it will be a more transparent process.
Rashpal Verma said that large population of OBCs comprise of poor families and many meritorious students leave their studies halfway due to poor financial condition and the scholarship from the Government can prove to be of great benefit for such students.
The BJP leaders stressed upon the Social Welfare Directorate to timely process the application forms so that the students get scholarships on time and are not made to suffer while seeking admissions in next classes.
They also appealed the prominent political and social activists of these categories to educate the students of their communities about the scholarships granted by the Government.
