SC/ST/OBC Confederation celebrates Shouriya Diwas

JAMMU, Jan 1: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations, Dalit OBC Minority (DOM) and National SC ST OBC Students & Youth Front (NSYF) celebrated Shouriya Diwas at All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha, here today.
People from all walks of life attended the function. Participants remembered the sacrifices of 500 Dalit soldiers who defeated 28000 Peshva Sainik at Bheema Koregaon on Ist January 1818 for their self-respect.
They also remembered Savitri Bai Phule, Fatima Sheikh who opened first school on 01-01-1848 to give education to females, Sardar Uddam Singh who killed General Dyer on 13-03-1940 for massacre of Jallianwala Bagh on 10 April 1919, Martyrs of 2nd April Bharat Band to save SC/ST Atrocity Act and Masud Choudhary (a visionary who always supported the Social Justice Movement).
Participants also discussed about the curbs on freedom of expression by the state, land grab of the vulnerable by administration like Chak Jangi case, rising cases of caste atrocities, issues in transfer policy for the inter district employees who have been given assurance by the LG, among others.
RK Kalsotra, State President of the Confederation, put forth various resolutions, which were passed in favour of inter district employees who are struggling from last 216 days for transfer policy as well release of pending salary. Another resolution passed not to cancel the allottee lands to the minorities.
A resolution was passed unanimously that a massive campaign will be launched to address all these issues by the Confederation with the support of masses so that the Government may approach these issues systematically in favour of the vulnerable.
Others who spoke included Shahid Saleem, H R Phonsa, Advocate Jamil Kazmi, Ashu Peter Mattoo, Kuldeep Singh Giani, Advocate Ayaz Mugal, Sukhdev Singh, Satish Borkar, Dr AC Bhagat, Yasmeen Bhat, Amir-Ud-Din- Kasana, Suman Kumari, Shashi Syal, Kali Dass, Suraj Parkash, Ramesh Bhagat, Madan Lal, Girdhari Lal, Rashpal Chand, Tr Mohan Lal, Ramesh Sarmal, Advocate Susheel Samyal, Dev Soni, Rameah Kaith and Sham Bassan.
