JAMMU, Nov 3: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations observed Black Day here at Ambedkar Chowk for ignoring the demands of the community by the Government.
Confederation asked the Government to fulfill the demands of the down trodden community, as the implementation of reservation in promotions in the newly formed UT of Jammu and Kashmir is yet awaited. They also demanded implementation of 27% reservation for OBCs as per the Mandal Commission recommendations and  clearing of pending backlogs of SC/ST/OBCs in various Government departments.
They said the official declaration of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir to UT took place on October 31, 2019 and around 106 Central laws got implemented by the Government in the new UT. Few state laws which were already in place are still going to function. But due to wrong done to the vulnerable sections of SC/ST/OBCs by not giving adequate reservation to them, it’s high time that with this new shift in the administrative rubric of state, government takes into account the needs of such sections.
These  demands were not fulfilled by the Government and therefore, the Confederation observed Black Day here today, they maintained.
While addressing members RK Kalsotra, state unit president said that all the Governments have ditched the community. Ordinance passed by the President is still lying unimplemented by Government for continuation of reservation in promotions. He said that reservation is a constitutional right enshrined on SC/ST/OBCs and thus it should be implemented with no delay. He appealed to the Lt Governor, G C Murmu to implement the issues raised by Confederation.
Others who were present on the occasion included Ch Shafi, Madan Chalotra, Sham Lal Bhasin, Tej Ram Dogra, Amar Nath Dogra, Ramesh Chander, Amar Nath Bhagat, Tilak Raj Kajotra and Shashi Syal.
