This has reference to the news item ‘Scandal disgraces Social Welfare Deptt’, DE Sep 11, 2018. There seems no concrete policy on checking of financial irregularities not only in Social Welfare Deptt but in most of the state departments. The funds released, expended by the Deptts should be strictly checked for financial implications and audited strictly so that no employee should dare to misuse the public money . It is a matter of concern that deserving cases are denied their rightful entitlement and non entitled persons including dead are being benefitted of the old age pension scheme. This shows utter disregard to the duty by the employees resulting into the huge loss to the public exchequer. Persons found involved in the scam should be dealt severely as per law. The author has rightly demanded full fledged inquiry and removal of the suspected persons from their duty and attachment with some other departments to avoid tampering of the record/documents by the persons involved in the scam.
