JAMMU, July 11: Expressing her anger over the failure of the authorities to provide potable water to the inhabitants of Jammu city, former MLA and vice president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Indu Pawar today said that scarcity of drinking water within the limits of Jammu city is an indication that the so-called “Smart City” project is confined only on papers.
“How can you call a city smart when the inhabitants of the town are agitating for basic amenities like drinking water?”, she asked while addressing a series of public meetings in the Jammu North Assembly segment.
Senior Congress leader voiced strong concerns over the ongoing water scarcity crisis plaguing Jammu City. She lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their repeated unfulfilled promises and lofty claims regarding the resolution of citizens’ problems.
“Despite the BJP’s grand declarations of addressing public issues, the ground reality in Jammu City tells a different story,” Pawar remarked.
“The persistent water shortage has severely impacted daily life, highlighting the gap between the BJP’s promises and their actual delivery.”, she said.
Pawar criticized the BJP for its development claims, asserting that it remains merely on papers.
The so-called developmental initiatives by the BJP are confined to documents and press releases, with no tangible improvement visible to the people of Jammu,” she said.
The Congress leader urged the government to take immediate and effective measures to resolve the water scarcity issue and ensure that basic amenities are provided to the residents of Jammu City.
“It is high time for the administration to prioritize the needs of the people and take concrete steps to alleviate their suffering,” she added.
Pawar reiterated her commitment to standing with the people of Jammu in their struggle for basic necessities and promised that the Congress Party would continue to fight for their rights and well-being.
