SCERT organises National Science Seminar for students of Class VIII to Xth

JAMMU, Sept 11: The State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) organized UT/Divisional level competition for National Science Seminar (NSS) 2023 for the students of Class VIII to X here today.
The seminar was held under the mentorship of Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director SCERT J&K Jammu and guidance of H.R. Pakhroo, Joint Director SCERT J&K Jammu. The theme of the Seminar was “Millet- a Super Food or a Diet Fad”.
In this competition, 20 district level Winner students participated. 20 students (02 students from each district) of Jammu Division participated in the Seminar at SCERT J&K Jammu and 20 students (02 students from each district) of Kashmir Division participated at SCERT J&K Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Swarn Singh Jaral, Coordinator of UT/Divisional level National Science Seminar, briefed the participants that, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets on March 5 2021 on the recommendations of the Government of India and SCERT has been conducting various awareness programmmes and activities to inform the students and the masses about the health benefits of the millets.
Abroo Bilal from HS Doligam, Ramban emerged as the winner, Anirudh Singh from Nature’s Lap School, Pouni, Reasi District claimed second position while Anjali Sharma from GHS Jourian, Jammu secured third position.
Hussain Malik from BHSS Humhuma, Kashmir Division emerged as winner from Kashmir Division .
N. P. Singh, Associate Professor Sh. Kishor Kumar, Associate Professor, Dr. Neeraj Jandial, Associate Professor, Dr. Sanjeevani Sharma, Assistant Professor, Mtr. Parveen Akhtar, Assistant Professor were also present on the occasion.
