JAMMU, June 28: A three day workshop on `Revitalizing Morning Assembly’ concluded today at SCERT J&K, Divisional Office Jammu.
The programme, inaugurated by Dr Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director JKSCERT in the presence of Parshotam Kumar, Director Planning and Statistics J&K, was organized by Department of Teacher Education (Academic Unit-II) SCERT-J&K Jammu, under the supervision of Prof Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, JKSCERT Divisional Office Jammu.
The valedictory programme was graced by Director School Education Jammu, Ashok Sharma, whereas Dr J N Baliya, Prof. Department of Education Studies, Central University of Jammu was the guest of honor.
Welcome address was given by Lakshmi Puri, Faculty, JKSCERT Jammu. In this programme, 30 participants were invited from 10 districts of Jammu division.
The aim and objective of this programme was to orient the Physical Education Teachers (PETs) from different schools across Jammu division about the need for reviving Morning Assembly practices for effective student engagement and overall well-being and to rejuvenate the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) as per NEP 2020.
A vision document on Morning Assembly will be released in due course of time after incorporating the suggestions from the participants and stakeholders in accordance with the guidelines of School Education Department under the mentorship of Arti Gupta, Head Department of Teacher Education, AU-II, JKSCERT Jammu
The Resource Persons oriented the participants about different ways and means for revitalizing Morning Assemblies in schools in accordance with the guidelines issued by Principal Secretary, School Education Department.
The training programme was coordinated by Seema Mattoo Koul. She was assisted by Kavya Sharma and Deepak Kumar. The organizing team included Kamini Verma, Dr Sandarve, Abha Verma, Amit Sharma, Sunita Sharma and Neeraj Jamwal. A comprehensive documentary of the three-day workshop was prepared by Lakshmi Puri
Prof Sindhu Kapoor briefed about the vision of revitalizing morning assemblies in the present circumstances in view of NEP 2020.
Director School Education Jammu, Ashok Kumar Sharma impressed upon all the PETs present to bring vitality and geniuness into the morning assemblies and enable physical, moral and mental developments of the students.
Prof J N Baliya addressed the gathering with his valuable suggestions and inputs and experienced approach. Kavya Sharma highlighted theme of the workshop and Seema Mattoo Koul, Coordinator, presented a brief report of the workshop. Vote of thanks was presented by Abha Verma.
