JAMMU, May 9: With a view to promote Kashmiri art, language, literature and music, a group of scholars, intellectuals, poets, artists and dramatists in and around Jammu in a meeting here, today formally launched Kashmiri, Art Language and Music Club (Kalam Club).
Brij Nath Betab poet cum broadcaster was elected as its president.
Dr. Ratan Talashi and Pran Pandit were elected as vice presidents, Er. Vinod Kumar as general secretary, Ashok Safeer as treasurer and Kusum Dhar as publicity secretary.
Besides, P N Shad, Veer Ji Sumbli, Santosh Shah Nadan, Kusum Dhar and Dildar Mohan were elected as organising members of the Governing Body.
Wali Mohd Bhatt popularly known as Asseer Kishtwari was elected as chief Patron.
It was decided to work closely with the civil society for the promotion and propagation of the language, literature , art, music and drama.
At the end a poetic symposium was held in which J N Sagar, Bal Krishan Sanyasi , P N Shad, Ashok Gauhar also recited their poems.
Rinku Kaul and ML Pandita read their short stories on the occasion.
