Scholarship camp by Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust begins

JAMMU, Sept 1: A nine-day long scholarship camp by Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust, began here today.
Besides scholarship distribution, students of class 1st  to 10th  are also participating  in assessment tests. The Trust also organized blood sugar check up  of parents. Selection tests for new students will also be conducted from classes 1st to 3rd for next year.
Neelam Saini, Sub Inspector gave an inspiring talk to the children and motivated the girl students by stating that they   can join the Police and still look after their families.
Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Trustee said that the scholarships will be distributed to 560 students over the next 9 days and  everyday about 60 – 65 students will be invited along with their parents to collect the scholarship. More than 80 percent of the participating students are girls from rural areas within 50 to 80  kms  of Jammu.
Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust has been awarding scholarships since 1997. Initially HBET started by supporting 12 children and this year the Trust is reaching out to 560 children. The Trust aims to cover as many rural children as possible in and around Jammu. 80 percent  of the students are girls and 85 percent students are from rural areas of Jammu region, such as Hiranagar, Chak, Rattian, Doomi, Gajansoo, R.S Pura, Birpur, Rehian, Jourian, Dansal, Kangrail, Gurah Slathia,  Ghou Manhasan, Saruinsar, etc.
Families of financially weak girl children from 1st to 3rd classes may  apply to the Trust for scholarship. The Trust only accepts students studying in Government schools.
