Leh, Jan 25: Secretary Education, Ladakh, Saugat Biswas convened a meeting with the delegation of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regarding the modalities of integration of schools of Ladakh with the CBSE.
The meeting took place in Leh today in which threadbare discussion took place regarding the issues related to examination process and timing, academic session, regional office, capacity enhancement of teachers and infrastructure.
During the meeting, Director Education, Mumtaz Ali gave a detailed power point presentation on education scenario of Ladakh highlighting school enrollment, literacy rate, teaching and non-teaching staff strength, trained and untrained teachers/ lecturers, newly opened and up gradation of schools, professional and vocational courses, etc. He also informed about the function of JK BOSE in the present situation.
Deputy Secretary, Affiliation from CBSE, Karnail Singh, gave a detailed presentation about the rules and guidelines of CBSE and the requirements from the school education department to on-board onto the system.
It was decided that the School Education Department will commence work on the creation of local supplement which will be taught in schools. Biswas directed the department to constitute a committee regarding local content development for the purpose.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary/ RO, Panchkula Karnail Singh, Deputy Secretary/ RO Chandigarh ShyamKapoor, Deputy Secretary A&L Jaiprakash Chaturvedi, Deputy Secretary Affiliation, Vijay Singh Yadav, Director Education, Ladakh Mumtaz Ali, Chief Education Officer, WaniAssistant Director Education, Tsering Angdus, Asstt. Secretary JKBOSE Tashi Tundup, DEPO, Leh Chetan Dorje and other head master of Govt. and private Schools. Concerned officers from Kargil also attended the meeting through video conferencing.
