School level assessment for Ist to 7th; normal exam for 8th & 9th with 65 pc syllabus

DSEJ notifies mechanism for T-2 exams

JAMMU, Mar 2: Ending confusion over mode of conducting Term-2 examinations for the current session, Directorate of School Education Jammu today notified that instead of conventional exams, child friendly assessment shall be conducted at school level for classes Ist to 7th whereas for class 8th to 9th , it will be normal examination with 65 percent syllabus.
In case of class Ist to 7th, assessment shall be conducted at school level for current academic session from 3rd week of March, 2021 ensuring that the assessment is child friendly and the uniform models of assessment tools are used by all schools while retaining the flexibility of mode of conduct as well as actual questionnaire to be used.
In case of class 8th and 9th, it will be normal examination with 65 percent syllabus and if the child is unable to take the exam due to health conditions or any extraordinary circumstances, the school will also provide alternative arrangement for online examination or special offline examination at a later date in consultation with parents.
This was notified by the Directorate of School Education Jammu following approval of the same by the Administrative Department.
These guidelines and mechanism for conduct of Term-2 (T-2) examination from class Ist to 9th for the session 2020-21 (Sumer Zone) Jammu Division have been issued to make the process hassle free and as per the SOPs of Covid-19 and keeping in view possible learning losses.
To supervise the smooth conduct of school based assessment, a committee, headed by Joint Director, School Education, DSEJ has been constituted. Principal DIET Jammu, Principal DIET Kathua, Principal DIET Reasi, . Principal DIET Samba, Principal DIET Rajouri, Principal DIET Udhampur and Principal DIET Poonch are Members of this committee.
The committee shall ensure that every student is assessed as per the model evolved and the progress report card of the student shall reflect his/her assessment through grades instead of marks.
This committee will also monitor the examination of class 8th and 9th besides providing advice and guidance to the school heads under the overall supervision of Joint Director School Education in the Directorate. The concerned Chief Education Officer shall render all logistic support wherever required.
Under the supervision of this committee, the concerned DIET shall guide the schools in conducting school based assessment and monitor whole exercise through their faculty and other field functionaries, including cluster heads and ZEOs as well.
The concerned school shall setup the test paper as per the Assessment scheme and the evaluation shall be done at school level. The tabulations of result from class Ist to 7th shall be done at school level and same shall be countersigned by cluster heads.
For the examination of class 8th and 9th, the concerned school shall set question papers for uniform assessment of students. After the conduct of exams, the concerned DIET shall issue the achievement cards for class 8th students depicting their grades.
The Joint Director School Education DSEJ shall monitor the whole exercise through Principal DIETS, HoDs, DIET faculty and the field functionaries as per the requirement.
The Principal DIETs in due consultation with the concerned CEO shall issue date sheet for their respective districts after consultation with the concerned Heads/Schools.
The private schools, affiliated to different Boards shall have the discretion to conduct exams in their own way upto class 6th. However, for class 7th, 8th and 9th, they shall follow the same procedure as applicable for Government schools.
