KATHUA, Aug 27: District administration Kathua today renamed Government Higher Secondary School, Chandwan as Shaheed Sepoy Bua Dutta Singh Government Higher Secondary School to honour the sacrifice made by the valiant soldier while protecting the Country.
Vir Chakra Awardee Sepoy Bua Dutta Singh of 8 JAK Rifles sacrificed his life while fighting for the country in Chirri Kot village of Poonch Sector on August 16, 1948.
Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav; Vice Chairperson DDC Raghunandan Singh; DDC Member Karan Kumar; Officers and a large number of locals besides Officials of Army and family members were present at the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said the renaming of schools is a token of gratitude and to pay tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives fighting for the country. He said the country is celebrating 75th years of Independence as ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ and renaming the Schools, Roads after Martyrs or other renowned personalities will be an effort to remember and honour their valued contribution made for the country.
He said the process of renaming schools, Roads etc will continue till 15th August 2022.
Vice Chairperson, DDC Raghunandan Singh said the young generation must take inspiration from such personalities who have made sacrifices for the honour of the country. He said Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav provides a great opportunity to recognise and honour our heroes who made the country proud.
