JAMMU, Jan 8: Expressing his serious concern over the highhandedness of a school teacher MLA R S Pura Dr Gagan Bhagat today said that nothing has changed even after 67 years of democracy for the hapless children of Government Middle School, Rathana in his Constituency where a school teacher can treat his students as bonded laborers or personnel servants and send them for washing his car or doing any odd during the school timing.
The MLA said notwithstanding the claims of banning the child labour, the situation is worst in a Government school of his constituency where teacher uses his students for private work during school hours. He said this practice if not stopped will send a wrong message in the society.
He said the attitude of the School teacher Surinder Choudhary has put a question mark over the functioning of Education Department in the State which produces future of tomorrow. The teacher showed no respect for norms and rules and his attitude of the teacher has also brought a bad name to traditional Guru -Shish Parampara of this nation where a teacher’s only objective was that his disciple should touch heights and teacher used to pay any sacrifice for that, he added.
But throwing this all this in winds, Mr Choudhary uses his students for private work during school timing.
Dr Gagan Bhagat during his surprise visit to Government Middle School, Rathana today was shocked to see that two students of the school were washing a private car of the teacher, Surinder Choudhary . The MLA taking serious note of it brought the matter into the notice of Chief Education Officer and recommended a stern action under law against the teacher. He also brought the matter in the notice of SDM R S Pura who assured that action under law will be taken against the teacher.
He said instead of teaching the students for which the teacher is being paid by the Government he was forcing them to do his private job. The MLA also informed CEO Jammu that two students were washing the car bearing Number JK02 BE 3187 belonging to Mr Choudhary during school timing.
Dr. Gagan Bhagat also paid a surprise visit in Panchyat Kalyana, Panchyata Rathana, along with Avni Nawasa B.D.O R.S Pura. The MLA found many irregularities in the execution of works under N.B.M and MGNREGA as well as other developmental works.
