JAMMU, Sept 6: Teachers’ Day, the birth anniversary of Dr Saravpalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and a great educationist, was celebrated with great enthusiasm in various schools across Jammu region.
The Day was celebrated at MHAC School, Nagbani with great pomp and show. The students managed the morning assembly during which a floral tribute was presented to Dr S Radhakrishnan by the School Principal, Sween Puri and Supervisory Heads. Pupils presented cards and flowers to their teachers and presented a beautiful programme of dances and songs. Later, the Principal read the message of DAV president, Punam Suri to the entire audience.
JGEI celebrated Teacher’s Day in Institute of Management Sciences (IMS) and Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology. The students of the departments of computer science and management put up a great show in order to show their gratitude to their teachers. The event included various scintillating performances along with fun filled acts as well as a debate competition.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu organized a programme in the school premises to celebrate Teachers’ Day. The celebrations began with giving tribute to Dr S Radhakrishnan. The students of different classes used multitudinal ways to articulate honour and obeisance to the teachers. The programme continued with speeches, songs and dance performances. Students also presented a skit based on the life of Lord Buddha.
Students of Mother India Senior Secondary School, RS Pura celebrated Teacher’s Day with great zeal and fervor. Senior students played the roles of teachers and delivered lectures to the students. Principal of the School, Sonia Tohra, paid tributes to Dr S Radhakrishnan and later distributed gifts among the teachers. Students also presented gifts to the teachers.
Ex-Servicemen Public Higher Secondary School, Thathri organized Teacher’s Day function in the school premises to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr S Radhakrishnan. A variety of singing/dance activities and speeches were presented by the students to throw light on the life history of Dr Radhakrishnan. Besides, students decorated their class rooms with inspirational thoughts and colourful flowers to show their respect to the teachers.
Government Higher Secondary School, Jakhbar celebrated Teachers’ Day to pay homage to great teacher, Dr S Radhakrishana. The function started with paying floral tributes to Dr Krishnan by Principal of the School, Romesh Sharma. A cultural programme was also organized by the students.
Teachers’ Day was also celebrated at GHSS Kilhotran Bhalessa. The function was presided over by Basharat Hussain, Vice Principal of the School. Students spoke on the contribution of teachers as nation builders who shape the future of students. They also presented gifts and cards to their teachers.
A function to celebrate Teachers’ Day was also organized at GHSS Gandoh. Students delivered speeches and highlighted the role and contribution of teachers in nation building. The programme was presided over by Muhammad Ayoub Rather, Incharge Principal.
Teacher’s Day was celebrated by APS Damana with great fanfare and enthusiasm. Brig Abhijit Chandra, Chairman of the School, was the chief guest and Mita Chandra, Chairperson, FWO, Chenab Brigade, was the guest of honour. A special assembly was conducted by the students of Class XII. After that the classes were conducted by the nominated student teachers and the best teachers were given prizes by the School authorities.
In a volunteer endeavor to mark the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Nirmal Educational Trust, Pouni felicitated the retired teachers of tehsil Pouni as a mark of respect and gratitude to them who had extended their universal services in the upliftment of mankind. Gopal Krishan Komal, ZEO Pouni, was the chief guest on the occasion while Madan Mohan (Retd Principal), Janak Singh (Retd ZEO), Piara Singh (Retd ZEO), Mohan Singh (Retd Lecturer), Bansi Lal and Om Parkash were the special guests, who were felicitated with Pagri and certificate of Lifetime achievement by the trust.
