JAMMU, Feb 3: J&K unit of Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray today staged a protest demonstration against the decision of reopening of schools and conducting offline examinations in the Union Territory and demanded concession in school fees.
Terming the schools reopening decision by the education department as a conspiracy to benefit private schools, many activists of Shiv Sena led by their president, Manish Sahni gathered near the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh and raised slogans against schools reopening.
Sahni appealed Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha to intervene and provide relief to the students and parents.
He said that the decision for offline examinations and re-opening schools is risky and further added that College and Jammu University students are also protesting against offline examinations.
The Shiv Sena leader said that decision to reopen the school is entirely up to the education department and the Government so they will be responsible for any untoward incident.
Sahni advocated for promoting students up to eighth class without examinations and all other exams should be held online.
Raising voice on fee waiver, he said that economic condition of the people of J&K is worse due to Corona crisis and the administration should take care of parents’ concern about the fees in a clear manner.
Meenakshi Chhibber, president women wing; Rakesh Gupta, chairman; Vikas Bakshi, general secretary; Ashwani Gupta, working chairman; Vishal Kohli, youth leader; Raj Singh, Balwant Singh and Bodh Raj, secretaries; Raju Salaria, joint secretary; Sofia Sagu, vice president; Geeta Lakotra, secretary, Sanjeev Soodan, Dimple, Rakesh Handa, Zarnail Singh, Sushil Sharma and others were also present in the protest.
