Schools to reopen in Kargil, 75 cases in J&K

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Feb 24: District Magistrate Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve today ordered reopening of Government and private schools/institutions in the district from March 1 for Class 6th to 12th and up to 5th Class from March 11 after winter vacations following improvement in COVID conditions.
He directed that Head of the Institution and teaching staff will report at their schools three days before reopening for making requisite arrangements and ensure COVID related SOPs.
Meanwhile, 75 persons today tested positive for COVID_19 including 52 in Jammu division and 23 in Kashmir valley while the UT of Ladakh recorded 26 cases.
Among 52 positives in Jammu, 22 were reported from Doda district, 18 Jammu, five Kathua, four Udhampur, two Ramban and one in Reasi district while Rajouri, Samba, Kishtwar and Poonch districts didn’t report any fresh cases.
As against 52 cases, 169 persons recovered from the virus leaving number of active positive cases in Jammu division to 647.
The UT of Ladakh today registered 26 fresh cases including 22 in Leh and four in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 284 active positive cases—251 in Leh and 33 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 23 fresh cases of COVID-19
Those who tested positive include 12 from Srinagar, 3 from Baramulla, 2 from Budgam, 1 from Kupwara and 5 from Kulgam.
With fresh cases, the number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached 286,964 including 284,101 recoveries and 2,423 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,087 including 440 from Kashmir division.
With 353 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 446,887 which is 98.71 percent of the total cases.
