SCI holds awareness programme on cancer

JAMMU, Feb 27: The Preventive Oncology Unit of the State Cancer Institute (SCI) Jammu today organised an awareness programme on cancer and its prevention at Bee Enn College and Institute of Nursing.
A statement said that approximately 400 nursing students, faculty and staff of the college attended the programme.
Dr Kamna Singh, Lecturer, Dr Nahida, and Dr Tasvinder Kour, Senior Resident from the Department of Community Medicine, conducted sessions on cancer overview, cancer of oral cavity and tobacco, breast cancer, and vaccination for cervical cancer.
Dr Rajiv Gupta, HoD, Department of Community Medicine and Dr Deepak Kumar, DyMS, SCI Jammu provided support for the event.
During the sessions, the participants were trained in conducting oral-visual examination, steps of self breast examination, and visual inspection after application of acetic acid for cervical cancer screening through lectures and videos. They were also made aware of the HPV vaccination.
