JAMMU, June 7: Two scooty lifters were arrested today and three stolen vehicles were recovered from their possession, officials said.
They said on June 6, a complaint was received from one Rahul Gupta son of Bal Krishan Gupta of Rehari Colony, Jammu, regarding theft of his scooty.
On this, a case FIR number 78/2024 under sections 78/2024 under sections 379/34 of the IPC was registered at Police Post Sarwal and investigation started, they said.
During the course of investigation conducted under the supervision of SP City North, a police team led by SDPO City West and assisted by SHO Bakshi Nagar and Incharge Police Post Sarwal detained two suspects, Vinod Kumar of UP at present Nitco Lane, Talab Tillo, Jammu, and Jeetu Gouda of Odisha at present Om Nagar, Talab Tillo, for questioning, the officials said.
During sustained questioning, they said, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime and on their disclosure, the stolen scooty along with other stolen vehicle were recovered from their possession.
According to the officials, one of the accused, Jeetu Gouda is already facing an FIR registered at Police Station Nowabad for a theft case.
Further investigation into the case is underway, they said.
