Scribes protest restrictions on media

Srinagar, Apr 16: Over a dozen scribes working with several local and national news organizations today staged a protest outside Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Kupwara against restrictions on the movement of journalists in the district since last five days.
The journalists led by the presidents of Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) and Kupwara Working Journalists Association held a protest outside TRC where Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti held a meeting with the kin of civilians killed recently.
President of BWJA, Gulzar Sofi, said that since the unrest started in Kupwara the police and other forces have created hurdles in their movement. He also alleged that a particular news channel was given access to the meeting of CM with slain civilians’ families at Kupwara. The journalists later lodged a protest with the RDD Minister, Abdul Haq Khan.
