SC/ST Confed seeks restoration of reservation in promotion

JAMMU, Nov 14: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations, Tehsil unit, Nagrota, today submitted a memorandum to Tehsildar for its onward submission to Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed demanding restoration of reservation in promotion.
The memorandum also include other demands like implementation of Mandal Commission Report on reservation, reservation to STs in State Legislative Assembly, removal of marks criteria and amendment of income slabs on the analogy of Central Government norms for grant of scholarship, immediate inclusion of 77th, 81st, 82nd and 85th amendments of Constitution of India according benefits to the reserved category people, release of adequate funds in special component plans for SC/ST, stopping dilution of ST status and allotment of land/plots to the houseless/migratory people of SC/ST.
Earlier, while addressing a convention of the confederation, Dr Mohd Majeed, president of the Confederation for Nagrota Tehsil, said that the rights of SC/ST/OBC people are being snatched under the calculated strategy and the well thought game plan.
He warned that a massive agitation will be launched at State level if the Government fails to restore reservation in promotion.
