JAMMU, Nov 20: Up in arms against alleged anti-reservation policy of the Government, members of SC/ST/OBC and others reserved categories, today held a strong protest rally at Mira Sahib.
The rally was taken out under the aegis of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations and was led by tehsil president of the Confederation, Darshan Lal, Dr D D Shivgotra, Mukhtiar Kalia, Ramesh Bitty, Sat Pal and others.
A large number of people from various social and religious organizations as well as political leaders across the party line, participated in the mass rally, which was taken out on scooters, bikes and cars.
Shouting slogans, the participants in the mega rally demanded remedial action for protection of their constitutional rights/privileges, being debarred by the pronouncements of judicial judgments of High Court J&K.
Darshan Lal said the Govt has utterly failed in protecting the Constitutional rights and privileges of the reserved categories in the Court of Law. Confederation fully endorsed the Agenda of its J&K unit, working under the leadership of R K Kalsotra.
Dr Shivgotra highlighted the denial of constitutional rights and privileges granted under the Reservation Act 2004 to the reserved categories by the High Court order. He made a strong demand to the Government to take remedial legal actions to restore reservation in promotion.
Mukhtiar Kalia gave a call to the people to participate in rally, to be held at Ramlila Ground, New Delhi on December 7. 2015, on the reservation promotion issue.
Rally started from Miran Sahab and culminated at SDM office where a memorandum was submitted to Chief Minister through SDM Deep Kanathia.
Similar protest rally was held at Billawar, under the leadership of Babu Ram, Yash Pal, Saif Din, Surinder Kashyap and Joginder Kumar.
The Confederation warned that in case, Govt fails to restore reservation in promotion, the people will again move towards Jammu.
