JAMMU, Sept 20: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations, J&K, has cautioned the J&K as well as Central Government to stop those who are raising voice for abolition of reservation.
The issue came up for discussion during a meeting of the Confederation held here today under the chairmanship of RK Kalsotra Jammu. The meeting discussed various issues related to the implementation of reservation in recruitments and promotions.
The meeting was attended by cadre from all over the State including the employees, Sarpanchs, Panchs, retired Government officers and social workers belonging to SC/ST/OBC sections of society.
The chairman while speaking on the occasion said that the State Government has not yet taken the concrete steps to ensure the protection of rights of SCs/STs/OBCs and great discrimination is being seen at various levels with the persons of reserved categories.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the strategies and modalities for the national rally at New Delhi to be conducted on December 7 on account of smelling a conspiracy behind the agitation launched by Hardik Patel.
The chairman said that the agitation by Hardik Patel has been launched at a time when we are asking for a bill for reservation in promotion as well as reservation in private sector, adequate funding in SC/ST Component Plan etc.
“It is surprising that elite classes are openly demanding reservation or abolish it completely wherein the great participation from J&K is also expected”, he added.
Further, it was also deliberated during the meeting that the OBCs reservation in State has not been implemented in strict sense by the Government and political reservation to STs was also denied.
It was unanimously decided in the meeting to hold a historical convention of thousands of members on November 8 in Jammu to highlight demands before the Government for their Toto implementation.
