Srinagar, Aug 19: Following complaints about illegal constructions in the tourist resort Sonamarg, the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) conducted a demolition drive today.
Officials reported that three illegally constructed commercial structures were demolished during the day-long operation.
“A large-scale demolition drive was carried out in Sonamarg, with the support of local police, to curb illegal constructions,” officials said.
The drive was initiated after the SDA received multiple complaints regarding unauthorized constructions in Sonamarg.

“In response, the CEO of the Sonamarg Development Authority directed immediate action to address these violations.”
The SDA emphasized its commitment to preserving Sonamarg’s natural beauty and upholding legal construction standards.
The CEO has issued a stern warning to the public, stressing that illegal constructions in Sonamarg will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“The authority will continue to take stringent action against any further violations to protect the area’s fragile environment,” he said.
