JAMMU, July 31: Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust (SDBCT) today organized a free eye check-up camp at Gurdwara Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji, Sant Pura, Danna Domana.
Sukhnandan Choudhary, MLA Marh, while visiting the camp as a chief guest, interacted with the visiting patients and appreciated the philanthropic services of Dr SP Singh Oberoi for different areas of country where the medical and other facilities are not easily available.
Dr Oberoi said that this is the fifth eye check-up camp in J&K in which about 650 patients have been examined in OPD out of which 90 have been provided with free eye-glasses. Besides, free medicines were provided to needy patients and 48 patients were scrutinized for cataract operations who will be operated upon by a team of eye specialists headed by Dr Priyanka Sodani, Lecturer, Government Medical College, Jammu.
He further said that 10 more such camps will be organized in the State of J&K in near future. Apart from this, 100 cornea transplantations will be done in the State of J&K this year. Dr Singh also announced 200 needy widow pensions per month for J&K State.
Meanwhile, the Trust opened its branch office at Nanak Nagar, which was inaugurated by MLC Charanjit Singh Khalsa. The Trust also established centre for free computer and stitching courses under the ‘Self Employment Generation Programme for the Youth’ at 20/1 Sector 7, Nanak Nagar, Jammu, which was inaugurated by MLA Javed Mustafa Mir.
