DODA, Feb 16: There is no Gynecologist and Child Specialist in Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Gandoh due to which people of the area are suffering badly for the last many months.
Official sources said that post of the Gynecologist is lying vacant for the last many years but the post of Child Specialist fell vacant some seven months back.
Vacancies of these two important disciplines in the hospital has created many problems for the people of Gandoh-Bhalesa Division who have to shift their patients to District Hospital Doda or Jammu for urgent treatment.
Locals informed that the worst sufferers remain women, as in the absence of Gynecologist many delivery cases are either referred to GMC Doda or Jammu which are quite far away.
Ishtyak Ahmed Malik, Firdous Khanday and Arjun Singh—social workers said, the biggest problem in the Hospital is that no child specialist and no gynecologist are available.
They urged upon J&K Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary to resolve the issue and depute the required doctors in SDH Gandoh.
When contacted, Block Medical Officer Gandoh, Dr. Shafqat Hussain admitted shortage of doctors and other staff in the Hospital.
