POONCH, Oct 15: The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Surankote has assured a probe and allotment of new lands for graveyard in Chandimarh area where extensive damage was caused due to road construction activity.
Local people had staged protest after a graveyard suffered damage on Friday evening in Chandimarh area of Surankote Sub Division along Mughal Road in Poonch district. The construction work of link road from Mughal Road to Kalahari in Chandimarh was in progress. Due to land slides some graves receives damage. Some skulls and bones of the dead persons also came out along with debris. It caused strong resentment among the locals.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Surankote, Rizwan Qureshi along with Tehsildar and SDPO visited there and assured people that administration will look into the matter and an alternate land will be alloted for graveyard and protection wall will also be constructed along with the current graveyard. The bones which came out from damaged graves were again burried there.
