KATRA, July 19: In order to restore roads for transport movement, the SDM Katra today conducted an extensive tour of the town to ensure the desilting of drains and dewatering of roads and other public infrastructure.
During the tour, he monitored de-choking of drains by the concerned officials of Katra Municipality to ensure that the situation is restored to the normal at the earliest.
The dewatering apparatus of F&ES was also put in service for dewatering of Grid Station Katra.
It is pertinent to mention that the traffic, after removal of Landslides and slips, is plying normally on Domail-Katra-Reasi Road.
Meanwhile, the Katra administration has advised general public to stay indoors to avoid any potential hazard, in view of inclement weather forecast and very heavy rain of 315.44 mm in last 24 hours in Sub Division Katra.
The general public had been warned not to attempt to drive or walk through flooded areas, as water level can rise rapidly and pose a danger.
They have been asked to steer clear of low lying areas, river banks and areas prone to flash flooding besides exercise caution near bridges and culverts where the water level can be strong and unpredictable.
