JAMMU, Jan 28: The aspirants of State Disaster Rescue Force (SDRF) today held protest here at Press Club to project their demands.
A large number of SDRF aspirants assembled outside Press Club Jammu this morning and raised slogans in favour of their demands which include providing them jobs in SDRF by increasing the vacancies and relaxation for the over aged aspirants. The protestors also raised slogans against the then Government for playing with their future.
Speaking on the occasion, one of the SDRF aspirants Rajesh Kumar said that they all belong to poor families and have no movable and immovable property. He informed that in the year 2012, the J&K Police Department invited applications for recruitment in SDRF and a large number of youth participated in the process and filled requisite forms
“However, the recruitment was done after a gap of 6 years i.e. in June 16, 2018 without any announcement regarding vacancies”, he said, adding that the all the aspirants were surprised with the breakup of the posts as a total of 355 posts for the State were announced including 203 for Kashmir and only 152 for Jammu, which was grave injustice with them.
He further said that previous Government had also desired to raise 2 Battalions of SDRF, but its selection process was kept pending for 6 long years due to which the candidates, who had applied have become overage”, Kumar said and appealed Lt Governor GC Murmu to intervene and save their future as they are at the verge of starvation.
