JAMMU, Jan 21: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) celebrated its 4th Raising Day at battalion headquarters of the force here today.
Commandant of SDRF 2nd Battalion, Stanzin Norboo (SSP) took the salute of the march-past presented by different parade contingents of the SDRF.
While speaking on the occasion, the Commandant presented the progress of SDRF Battalion its inception in 2012. More than 80% jawans have undergone formal training in rescue operations pertaining to collapsed structures response and mountaineering besides medical emergency response. Those awaiting their formal training have, however, undergone in those trainings and capable of handling the disasters.
The Commandant further reiterated that the a number of Civil Defence/ Homeguard volunteers have been imparted basic training in disaster response by SDRF personnel along with officials of Civil Defence and Homeguards during the previous years. Besides this, a new initiative to impart basic disaster response technique to Executive Police personnel have been started with districts Samba, Doda and Ramban so that more skilled manpower is made available at the time of disaster. He greeted the Force men on this occasion.
