JAMMU, Apr 20: SDRF 2nd Battalion today conducted awareness-cum-demonstration on disaster management in the Government College of Education, Jammu under the supervision of Commandant Atul Sharma (SSP).
The awareness-cum-demonstration was conducted with the active support of NSS Unit of the College under the patronage of Prof Aekta Gupta, Principle of the College. The program offered a platform to all students and faculty of the college to get aware about the latest technology being used in disaster management.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Aekta Gupta said the goal of this program was to mitigate the risk of natural disasters that has the potential to result in property damage and personal injury.
Arvinder Kotwal, DySP SDRF 2nd Battalion Jammu and Inspector Sunil Sharma were the overall incharge of the mock-drill. The demonstrations on various topics of disaster management were conducted by SDRF instructors among the students and the staff members.
The topics included First Aid, CPR, Medical First Responder; earthquakes; mountaineering and other rescue techniques. The SDRF stressed that every educational institution must take necessary precautions in order to prevent anything untoward from happening in case of any emergency.
Dr Shubhra Jamwal, NSS PO thanked the skilled team of SDRF on behalf of GCOE, Jammu for imparting the knowledge about the disaster management to staff and students.
The program was attended by Prof Anju Bala, Dr Shalini Rana, Dr Shalini Sharma, Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Shapia, Prof Neeraj Verma, Prof Seema Kumari, Prof Sunita Devi, Prof Vinay Lata and others.
