UDHAMPUR, Aug 11: Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma today dedicated newly constructed Primary Health Centre (PHC) to the people of Thial, Tehsil Majalta in Udhampur district.
MLA Ramnagar Harshdev Singh was also present on the occasion.
The Minister also inaugurated a 2-day health mela, being organized by Shri Durga Dass Sharma Memorial Society (SDSMS) in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services, Jammu at Thial.
Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Madhu Khullar, Mission Director NRHM Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Director Horticulture Y N Sharma, Director Floriculture Mr. K K Sharma, Drug Controller Satish Gupta, CMO Udhampur, BMO Majalta, senior Congress leader B S Pathania, senior doctors from Medical and Health Department Jammu/Udhampur besides Sarpanchs, Panchs and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sham called for close coordination between Health Department and connected field functionaries to extend adequate medicare to the people especially living in remote and farflung areas of the State. He reiterated the resolve of the Government of according utmost priority to the patient care in the Government hospitals and other associated hospitals in the State.
The Minister said that medical fraternity in comparison to other professions bears more responsibility to deal with very sensitive issue like health and hygiene of human beings. He said the State is fast progressing on the front of health services and the day is not far when the people even in far off villages could avail specialized consultancy at their doorsteps.
Appreciating the efforts of SDSMS for organizing such type of programmes in rural and far-off areas, the Minister hoped that this society will continue its services with the same spirit and missionary zeal. He said that Government wants massive participation of private health institutions as well as NGOs in providing and helping better healthcare services and supplement Government efforts in this regard.
He also dwelt on the achievements made by the government during the past three and half years in different sectors.
Harshdev Singh also spoke on the occasion.
Enroute, the Minister convened public meetings at Barnara and Mansar and listened to the problems and demands of the people. He assured the people that all their issues would be looked into for an early redressal.
