Sealing drive on in Katra: Jora

JAMMU, Feb 18: Minister for Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today informed the Legislative Council that on December 13, 2013, the High Court passed an order for sealing of buildings/ structures constructed in violation of Urban/ Municipal laws at Katra.
Replying to a calling attention notice by Jugal Kishore Sharma the Minister said the Supreme Court stayed the said order of the High Court. He said again on January 30, 2014, High Court passed directions for sealing of buildings/ structures and in compliance to High Court order, the sealing process started on February 4, 2014 and 9 structures have been sealed till date. On February 11, 2014, the High Court again passed directions for completion of sealing within one month, he added.
Mr. Jora further informed that public carried out peaceful protest at Katra for three days. He said two Magistrates have been deployed at different locations under the supervision of Additional District Magistrate, Reasi who was camping at Katra during the sealing drive and adequate police force has also been deployed. He said interaction with locals is also being made directly by District Magistrate for peaceful compliance of the orders of the High Court. The Congress legislator contested that when Master Plan has been okayed and all agencies given clearance to the unit then why such need felt to seal the building. Who should be held responsible. Why such things, violations if any, are overlooked.
