JAMMU, June 14: Search Committee for recommending a panel for appointment of the Vice Chancellors of Cluster Universities of Jammu and Srinagar has been reconstituted with change of all the members.
According to the official sources, Director Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu Prof Bidya Shankar Sahay is now Chairman of the newly constituted search committee while VC Islamic University of Science and Technology Mushtaq A Sidique and VC, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Prof Ravinder Kumar Sinha are the two members of the new panel.
The Lt Governor G C Murmu, who is also Chancellor of all the universities in J&K, is learnt to have approved reconstitution of the Search Committee following representation of the Vice-Chancellors’ Forum, which had termed setting up of the previous committee in violation of the laid down norms.
Pertinent to mention that the earlier Search Panel was headed by Principal Secretary School Education, Dr Asgar Samoon while Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University and Kashmir University were its members. However, both the Vice-Chancellors has submitted a joint representation before the Lt Governor that being the special invitees to Council of the Cluster Universities of Jammu and Srinagar, it was not appropriate for them to be part of the Search Panel.
