Search operation in north Kashmir woods continues

SRINAGAR :  A massive search operation continued in the woods in the north Kashmir district of Bandipora, where four to six militants are hiding, official source said today.
They said on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Sathri forest in Bandipora, security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation yesterday.
Few firing shots were heard when security forces were moving deep into forest where the militants were spotted, they said.
Later, reinforcement was rushed from different directions and entire forest area was sealed to foil any attempt by militants to escape.
However, due to darkness, the operation was suspended only to resume with the first light this morning.
So far, no contact has been established with the militants, who are on the run.
There could be four to six militants, believed to be members of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) hiding in the forest, they said. Details are awaited. (UNI)
