Searches in Rajdhani after bomb threat

JAMMU/PATHANKOT, Dec 7: New Delhi bound Jammu-Rajdhani Express was tonight stopped at Chakki Bank railway station at Pathankot in Punjab following a call received by Jammu and Kashmir Police that a bomb had been planted inside the train.
Soon after police received the call, it flashed the message to Punjab Police as the train had crossed the boundary of Jammu. The train was halted at Chakki Bank station in Pathankot at about 9.15 pm.
Railways Police from Punjab and Pathankot Police asked all passengers to board off the train and subjected all bogeys to frisking thoroughly. Sniffer dogs were also pressed into service.
After an hour, Railways Police also took the help of Army, which called its jawans from the Pathankot Cantonment for frisking of passengers and checking of the train. However, no explosive device was found in the train till the reports last came in at midnight tonight.
Dog Squad, Bomb Disposal Squad and other sophisticated equipments were being used by the Army for checking of the training and sniffing out any explosive material.
Rajdhani Express packed to its capacity had left Jammu Railway Station at 7.45 pm and had just crossed Lakhanpur around 9 pm when a call was received that bomb had been planted in the train after which it was stopped at Chakki Bank.
Nearly 150 security personnel including three DSP-rank Punjab Police officers, one SP-rank officer, besides personnel drawn from the Government Railway Police (GRP) were thoroughly searching the Jammu-Delhi train at Pathankot.
“There was a specific input passed on by the DGP of J&K Police to us after which we acted swiftly and started searching the train thoroughly. We are checking each and every bogie,” Pathankot SSP Rakesh Kaushal said.
Asked if the input passed on to them by the J&K police mentioned that a bomb could have been placed inside the train, the SSP said, “There was threat input. I cannot share more details.”
Jalandhar-based GRP DSP Gurnam Singh said the train would be thoroughly checked before being allowed to proceed for its onward journey.
