JAMMU, Nov 3: The State Election Commissioner today issued final reservation notification for the District Development Council (DDC) constituencies in the Union Territory.
An official handout said the seats have been reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in proportionate to their population.
Besides, 33 per cent seats have been reserved for women in each District Development Council.
This was disclosed in first meeting of the State Election Commissioner KK Sharma held today with the District Panchayat Election Officers of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting, convened via video conferencing, was attended by Chief Electoral Officer Hridesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioners-Sanjeev Verma and Pandurang Pole and Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Sheetal Nanda.
The SEC is a Constitutional body for conduct of Panchayat elections and has become functional with the appointment of KK Sharma as the first SEC.
