JAMMU, Apr 10: Security agencies have devised a summer strategy to counter infiltration attempts and check militancy in the hinterland in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
The strategy was formulated in a meeting organised by the counter insurgency Romeo Force at its headquarters in Rajouri. General Officer Commanding (GOR) Romeo Force I Narayanan presided over the meeting.
The meeting among others was attended by DIG BSF RS Kataria, DIG Rajouri-Poonch range Danish Rana, SSP Rajouri Mubassir Latifi, Assistant Commissioner Defence, Sachin Dev Singh and other representatives of civil and police administration, senior Army and Intelligence officials.
Official sources said the meeting observed that there was a need to be very alive to the situation on the LoC in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch especially in the view of good number of presence of militants across the LoC in the two districts.
“Obviously the militants would try to sneak in from the LoC,’’ the meeting observed and decided to take all preventive measures to ensure that the infiltrators didn’t succeed. Army and BSF officials said they were maintaining a very high alert on the LoC and would not allow any militant to sneak in. Police said their posts were also on high alert close to the LoC.
The meeting decided to create special nakas and check posts at Mughal Road to ensure that no militant could manage to use the road to enter Rajouri and Poonch districts from other parts of the State. Some agencies also voiced apprehensions about the militants’ plot to revive militancy in the hinterland but security agencies and police expressed confidence that no such attempt would be allowed to succeed.
GOC Narayanan stated the need for “synergised effort” at all levels to consolidate internal security situation in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
“There is requirement for focused and synergised effort at all levels to consolidate the internal security situation,” Mr Narayanan said.
He, however, appreciated the efforts of civil administration, police and security agencies for ensuring peaceful and conducive environment for common people.

SSP Rajouri Mubassir Latifi expressed concern and need for a continuous watch on Mughal Road, which may be utilised for movement of logistics, weapon and funds by the extremists.
