Sir,
The brutal and shocking killing of a BSF Jawan (while patrolling at International border)by Pakistani rangers on the very next day of inauguration of ‘smart border fencing’ by our Home Minister Rajnath Singh and series of abductions and killings of security personnel, especially from JKP has raised many alarming questions on security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. It also reflects the failure of present Government at the centre to live up with their promise of squarely controlling the unleashed terrorist activity.
The tall claims of Central Government to completely control the terrorist activity still appears rhetoric despite the fact that our security forces have shown unrelenting and dauntless spirit to challenge and neutralize the terrorists in several instances. But the lack of political will owing to multiple reasons constrain the security forces to work with complete efficiency and serves as a stumbling block to nip in bud the terrorists. Therefore there is an impending need to allow security forces to operate according to the standard operating procedure and Government on its part must engage all the stakeholders for reasonable discussion. Any dilly-dally approach to control the situation, politically as well as from security point of view, would further aggravate the situation.
