Srinagar, July 7: Security has been intensified in Kashmir on the occasion of death anniversary of a militant commander Burhan Wani whose killing led to massive protests across Kashmir three years ago.
The internet was suspended in South Kashmir today a day ahead of the anniversary as separatists have called for strike on the occasion.
Security across Kashmir has been tightened especially in the sensitive areas to prevent any protests on the occasion.
The shutdown call has been given to observe third death anniversary of Wani. He was killed on July 8 of 2016 during an encounter with security forces in Kokernag area of Anantnag.
Remembering on the 3rd anniversary of shaheed Burhan Wani, his associates and 126 martyrs of 2016 public uprising,
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of separatists has appealed for a complete shutdown on 8th July 2019 Monday against Wani and 126 killings that followed his death.
