SRINAGAR, Oct 7: Commissioner Secretary Public Health Engineering (PHE) Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Parvez Ahmad Malik approved the annual action plan 2015-16 for Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) during a meeting here today.
He asked the CCDU to enhance its reach with people via media campaigns, capacity building workshops and grass root interaction so that the working of PHE is strengthened.
The budget of Rs 23.50 crore for CCDU was approved which includes Rs 11.57 crore for Information Education Communication (IEC), Rs 11.33 crore for Human Resource Development (HRD) and Rs 0.60 crore for Establishment.
The Secretary directed the CCDU to prioritize their working in backward areas so that all are included in the march towards progress.
The Secretary approved taking up of two model villages in each district of the state for forming their drinking water security plan in consultation with local community. The community members in these villages would also be trained to conserve and exploit these resources in a sustainable manner.
The meeting was also attended by Syed Shabir Shafi, Joint Director Planning PHE I&FC, G M Bhat Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir, Rajeev Malhotra Director CCDU, Mahesh Das director finance PHE and other officials.
