JAMMU, Sept 21: Secretary to Government, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, today chaired a meeting to review the progress of the construction of Panchayat Ghars in various districts.
The meeting was held through video conferencing and was attended by Director Rural Development, Jammu, Director Panchayati Raj, ACDs Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi, Doda and Rajouri.
The Secretary took district-wise physical and financial review of each panchayat ghar in these six districts of Jammu division. She also deliberated upon the tendering progress of the projects.
Nanda, further, stressed on ensuring basic facilities viz. electricity supply, water connection, sanitary fitting etc in these panchayats in convergence mode.
She asked all concerned officers to expedite the projects within stipulated time frame. She cautioned all the officers against any laxity towards quality and timely completion of these development projects of vital significance. She impressed upon the officers to take ownership of works. “It’s our duty and job to get these works done, so we all should work with dedication, energy and enthusiasm in the best interest of the general public” , she added.
Nanda also instructed the concerned field officers to certify that there is no land dispute at the construction site and that there is no other Panchayat Ghar over in the same panchayat. She asked them to ensure that these Panchayat Ghars are located at accessible sites with good road connectivity and are put to good use by public. She also asked the officers to ensure that the land is transferred in the name of the department/ Panchayat before the construction is undertaken.
